China Brotsky
Senior Vice President, Tides and Managing Director, Tides Shared Spaces

China Brotsky is part of the executive team at Tides which is responsible for the integrated management of the Tides organizations. China is also Managing Director of Tides Shared Spaces, which creates, operates and promotes sustainable work space for nonprofits. China joined Tides in 1990 as Chief Financial Officer. During her tenure at Tides, China managed the restoration and development of the Thoreau Centers for Sustainability in San Francisco and New York. China also co-founded and directs The NonprofitCenters Network, a cross-sector national network of nonprofits and their real estate partners. She also served as the founding executive director of Groundspring.org, a nonprofit technology service provider. Prior to Tides, China served six years in public accounting and was the Deputy Director of Finance and Administration at the Exploratorium Science Museum. China is a member of the board of directors of Global Greengrants Fund and CorpWatch. She received a B.S. in accounting from Golden Gate University and is a CPA in the state of California.

Bruce DeMartini
Program Coordinator, Thoreau Center for Sustainability

Bruce DeMartini develops collaborative programming for Thoreau Center for Sustainability, a multi-tenant nonprofit center. He also manages Thoreau Center&rsqup;s art galleries, where he hosts community outreach programs and offers gallery space for local artists and arts organizations exhibits. Prior to joining Tides Shared Spaces, Bruce worked in marketing and operations in the banking industry and for several nonprofits supporting after-school programs and special education advocacy. While at BRIDGE Housing Corporation, Bruce was responsible for leasing low-income housing units for BRIDGE Housing&rsqup;s senior citizen developments. Bruce has a B.A. in English Literature from San Francisco State University.

Roxanne Hanson
Associate Director, The NonprofitCenters Network

As Associate Director of The NonprofitCenters Network, Roxanne manages NCN&rsqup;s membership and educational programs, conducts outreach, and organizes the Collaborating for Success conference. Prior to joining NCN, Roxanne spent twelve years working in the national and international nonprofit community based in Washington, DC. She served as National Delegations Organizer and later Development Manager for Witness for Peace, an organization working to change unjust U.S. policies toward Latin America. Before that, she spent three years supporting volunteer management professionals nationally as Training and Consulting Manager for Points of Light Foundation. Her love of volunteer management began with her work in the Volunteer Resources department of Whitman-Walker Clinic, the city&rsqup;s largest HIV/AIDS service provider and gay and lesbian health clinic. She was an active member of community arts organizations, serving on the Board of Directors of the Takoma Theatre Arts Project and performing with the Southern Maryland Modern Dance Collective. She is a graduate of Houston&rsqup;s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and holds a B.A. in International Studies from American University. She is currently a contributing writer to Volunteer Today and serves on the fundraising committee of the U.S.-El Salvador solidarity organization Voices on the Border.

Tides Shared Spaces Coordinator

Shantel has seven years experience in accounting and administration. Before coming to Tides Shared Spaces, Shantel worked for an architectural modeling company where she nearly ran every operation from handling HR to payroll to managing special projects. Shantel has a certificate in Accounting.

Melissa Lynn Bradley, Director

Melissa Lynn Bradley is founder and president of New Capitalist. She has served as a Financial Regulatory Affairs Fellow with the U.S. Treasury researching the impact of welfare reform, microenterprise lending and Individual Development Accounts on the financial industry and providing recommendations to the banking sector. She founded The Entrepreneurial Development Institute-an international NGO focused on social change, economic development and community empowerment.

Lawrence Litvak, Director

Since 1994, Lawrence (Larry) Litvak has been part of the management team at Working Assets, a socially progressive long distance, credit card, and Internet services company. Before joining Working Assets, Larry co-managed $3.2 billion in assets as a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager for the U.S. Trust Company of Boston. He also worked as a lead consultant at Community Economics Inc., designing venture capital, business lending and mortgage initiatives. While there he authored the book, Pension Funds and Economic Renewal, a follow up to his previously published, Innovations in Development Finance. Larry graduated with honors from Stanford University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics. He earned a master’s degree in public policy from the Kennedy School of Management at Harvard University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Drummond Pike, Tides Founder and CEO

Drummond Pike is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tides. Awarded as an Outstanding Foundation Professional, Drummond helped pioneer the advent of donor advised funds in philanthropy. Through his leadership, Tides has helped increase the capacity and effectiveness of thousands of social change organizations. Drummond was a founder and Associate Director of the Youth Project in Washington, DC, and served as Executive Director of the Shalan Foundation from 1976 to 1981. He was among the original founders of Working Assets, a telecommunications company dedicated to progressive philanthropy and political activism.

Joel Solomon, Director

Joel Solomon is the President of Renewal Partners, a seed capital firm, and he is also the Executive Director of the Endswell Foundation. Both organizations are focused on a conservation economy in Vancouver, British Colombia. Joel’s business interests include several real estate enterprises in Tennessee and British Columbia. He is a founding Board member of Tides Canada, former President of the Threshold Foundation, and a founding member of the Social Venture Network. Joel serves on Boards including the Vancouver Economic Development Commission, Real Assets, Happy Planet Foods, and two restaurant groups. He is Chair of the Board of Hollyhock Educational Retreat Center.
